Sponges (Phylum Porifera) are simple, primitive aquatic animals known for their porous bodies, lack of true ittues/organs, and sessile (attached) adult lifestyle, filtering food and oxygen from water drawn in through pores and expelled via a large opening called the osculum, with their diverse forms ranging from colorful reef dwellers to common bath sponges, which are often synthetic or harvested natural products.
