« Back to Glossary Index

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells from the skin’s outer layer using chemical (acids) or physical (scrubs/tools) methods. It improves skin texture, unclogs pores, brightens tone, and boosts product absorption. Gentle, infrequent exfoliation (1-2 times weekly) is generally recommended to avoid irritation, particularly for sensitive skin types.
