Freeze-thaw are the repeated, alternating processes of water freezing into ice and thawing back into liquid within materials or environments as temperatures fluctuate above and below (0 degree Celcius ). This phenomenon acts as a significant agent of physical weathering, causing damage to infrastructure and altering landscapes due to the expansion of water by roughly 9% upon freezing.
