An ecosystem is a geographic area, ranging in size from tiny tide pools to vast forests, where plants, animals, other organisms, and weather and landscape work together to form a bubble of life. It is a functional unit in ecology where living (biotic) components interact with non-living (abiotic) components through nutrient cycles and energy flows.
